RESUMO

A study was made of the relationship between hormonal (ACTH, cortisol, TSH, T3, T4, STH) and immune (E-RFC, EAC-RFC, and immunoglobulins) shifts in the time course of therapy in 106 patients with autoimmune thrombocytic purpura. A significant decrease in the level of T3 and its direct correlation with E-RFC in exacerbation of disease combined with an increase in the levels of cortisol and IgM were revealed. The treatment with glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants resulted in a more noticeable decrease in the levels of T3 and E-RCF. In case of development of hematological remission splenectomy resulted in the normalization of these shifts. In splenectomized patients with immunosuppressive therapy-refractory recurrences there was again a decrease in the level of T3 whereas the level of E-RCF was even on an increase.

RESUMO

The time-course of changes in the antidiuretic activity of plasma in response to burn injury has been assayed in intact rabbits and in those with an altered body reactivity induced by a preliminary injury to the anterior and posterior hypothalamus. It was demonstrated that in control animals and in rabbits with an injury to the anterior hypothalamus, the burn led to a phasic activation of the hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal system. In animals with an injury to the posterior hypothalamus, the burn, in contrast, inhibited the activation of the system, while the phasic pattern of the responses remained unchanged. The experiments on rats have shown that the decreased activity of the hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal system induced by the pharmacological blockade of the supraoptic nuclei of the hypothalamus raised the body resistance in burn injury.

RESUMO

Thyroidin was used in 30 patients with the burned disease at the stage of septicotoxemia with the burn exhaustion of the I--II degree and the square surface of granulated wounds not more than 20% of the body surface. Small doses of thyroidin used according to the proposed scheme in combination with the intensive oxygen therapy gave an obviously positive curative effect. Normal utilization of oxygen by tissues and the improved capillary blood flow were finally observed. These measures caused reviving of regenerative processes and normalization of protein metabolism.

RESUMO

Spirography of oxygenabsorption at external respiration was performed. Free oxygen tension (PO2) in muscular tissue, its dynamics at the O2 inhalation, capillary blood flow through the speed of the elimination of inhaled hydrogen from the tissue were studied by means of polarography. The investigations were performed on 33 burned cases during the septicotoxemia stage before 30 minutes and 24 hours after the hemotransfusion of 120 ml and 250 ml of the whole blood. The statistical but reliable rise of the previously decreased blood oxygen consumption occurred at the transfusion of 120 ml of blood. There are no reliable changes in the other indices i. g. PO2 and capillary blood flow. At the hemotransfusion of 250 ml of blood the rise of all the indices takes place. Hence at the selection of blood transfusion dose it is necessary to take into account the condition of the energy processes and of the capillary blood flow in the tissues of the burned.

RESUMO

Free oxygen tension (pO2) and tissue blood flow (by the rate of elimination of hydrogen from the tissues after its single inhale) at rest and after functional stresses (oxygen inhalation, walking) were studied polarographically in healthy persons (10), patients with obliterating endarteritis (25) and obliterating atherosclerosis (22). It was shown that the rate of pO2 and capillary blood flow reduction in the tissues and peculiarities of their changes in response to functional stresses aid in establishing the precise differential diagnosis of obliterating endarteritis and atherosclerosis, a stage of the disease and also in evaluating the efficacy of treatment.

RESUMO

The data obtained by the authors allowed the use of a polarographic study of pO2 in the pedicled graft tissue as an adjunct method of determining the graft patency. This method may be especially valuable in cases of a complicated period after suturing the graft to a defect, when considerable difficulties arise as to finding the optimum terms for a safe incision of the feeding pedicle.
